We've advocated merging of on-air and online content for radio stations for over 20 years. Phil Hall headed the programming and content divisions of the first network of radio station web sites.
In the 1980s Phil worked with developers to connect all departments in the radio station through a computer network with automatic updating of all active operations. The idea was to eliminate paperwork and errors and let sales people write orders from the field. At the time processors were too slow on affordable computers to make the system viable.
In the early 90s Phil was General Manager of SportsFan Radio Network. During his tenure SportsFan grew 400% while producing unique content for AOL and merging radio and online content with CBS Sportsline.
Phil meet Rick Lambert at ElectricVillage and they went on to develop audience and format driven content online that complimented the on-air product while recycling traffic back to the station from the web site.
Sites were developed to reflect the on-air image created by the station along with local content and audience relevant music, information, and lifestyle content. The concept was to use the web site. to enhance the on-air brand and recycle users between on-air and online. That was in the 90s.
During their tenure at ElectricVillage/OnRadio over 1200 content driven web sites for radio stations and network programming.
